Volunteers at the 5K Run/Walk

“I get more than I give when I volunteer at St. Joseph Home,” says Sister Joan Carole Schaffner, SC.  Spending time with the people who live at St. Joseph Home is sure to brighten your day. Volunteers are needed for a variety of jobs.

St. Joseph Home is blessed to have a wonderful group of volunteers that assist us with everything from laundry and sewing or mending clothing, to helping us with activities, or visiting with residents. Volunteers must be at least 15 years of age, and complete a volunteer training program.

Resident volunteers generally make a long- term commitment for at least a year and visit with a selected resident for two hours a week in the evenings or on the weekend. A resident volunteer typically helps with swimming, reading to a resident, or just taking the resident for a walk around the grounds.

Activities volunteers usually assist with scheduled group activities or community outings in the evenings or on the weekends. Long-term commitments are not necessary for activities volunteers.

St. Joseph Home also utilizes volunteers for our summer fundraising events, the Golf Classic and the Incline to the Finish Line 5K Run/Walk.
